Solar Gard (Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics) has invested in a new metal coating sputtering line on the site of its San Diego headquarters (California, USA).
This sputter deposition technology applies fine layers of matter onto films. With such leading-edge equipment, Solar Gard is able today to significantly reinforce its capabilities for producing high-quality solutions that will be available globally. Not only this new asset gives us the possibility to produce wider (72” and above) material but above all it is a unique platform for new product design. Leveraging the fabulous R&D synergies existing in Saint-Gobain between film and glass in thin film deposition, this equipment allows us to develop and produce brand new products with superior performances.
“This investment is first and foremost an innovation driver”, says Kendall Combs, Marketing Director for Solar Gard. “Besides the opportunity to produce more and enhance the service provided to our customers, this line is above all a platform for developing new higher-performing products.”
Headquartered in San Diego, California, Solar Gard manufactures state-of-the-art window films and protective coatings for the architecture and automotive markets.
