Critical Process Markets
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is the worldwide leader in
providing fluid-handling solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications including
chemical processing, water treatment, instrumentation, soaps and detergents, pulp and
paper, compressed gas, document-processing equipment, and lawn and garden. Our recognized
brand names include: TYGON® Flexible Tubing, Acutech Engineered Plastics, and Flexible
Components chemical and temperature-resistant hose assemblies. Since the 1940s, TYGON®
Flexible Tubing has been recognized as the standard by which other tubing is judged. Each
TYGON tubing is manufactured with its own special formula and all ingredients have been
carefully qualified and specified regarding chemical composition, purity and toxicological
safety. We use systems designed in accordance with ISO 9001 and Quality System Regulation
principles, to guarantee quality processing conditions verified by in-process inspection.
The Acutech Engineered Plastics line offers one of the widest varieties of rigid
engineered plastics available from a single source. Our extruded thermoplastic tubing,
pipe, rod, bushing stock, specialty profiles, heat shrink tubing, as well as highly
specialized proprietary custom products and services, meet industry applications such as
chemical processing, pharmaceutical, instrumentation, and silicone wafer processing.
Our roll cover and tubing products provide expanded and heat-shrinkable tubing for pulp
and paper mills. We also produce microwall sleeves for business equipment. Key to our
success is our ability to extrude within tight customer specifications. In the business
equipment industry, for example, we provide microwall sleeves on silicone-filled pressure
rollers used in copiers and laser printers.
The development of tailored products for specific applications is a core strength of
the Flexible Components product line, which includes both smooth bore and convoluted
corrosion-resistant and ultra-pure hose assemblies manufactured with Chemfluor®
fluoropolymer extruded tubing. Hose assemblies are available in a range of reinforced
materials, including stainless steel, polypropylene and PVDF. Applications include
biotech, chemical processing, high-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pump and
vessel connections, mixing stations, tank/truck unloading and pharmaceutical.
For the pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing market, we offer an extensive product line
of silicone hose and tubing solutions, crevice-free custom-fabricated barbless manifold
systems, peristaltic pump tubing, sanitary flexible hose assemblies, reusable fittings,
and high-purity, and non-metallic piping systems including Sani-Tech, TYGON®,
Sil-Flo® and Flexible Components products. Our products have been tested and validated to
meet critical regulatory standards.
Our industrial silicone products meet a range of applications including construction,
HVAC, lighting, appliance, aerospace, electronic, electrical, chemical processing,
document processing, food and beverage and environmental. Through our materials expertise
and developmental capabilities, more than 1,200 standard silicone compounds are available
to meet the individual needs of the end user. Norton® high performance tanks are
rotationally molded in a variety of high-quality virgin resin materials - including
polypropylene, PVDF, XLPE, HDPE and LLDPE - that make them ideal for use in demanding
chemical and industrial applications.
Demanding applications require high-performance solutions. In the laboratory market,
our TYGON®, Chemware®, Bytac®, Zitex®, CBM and Microsep® branded
productsrepresenting a broad range of tubing, fluoropolymer labware, surface
protection, microporous fluoropolymer membranes, closures, seals, stoppers and septa
capsprovide high value-in-use solutions for applications demanding exceptional
chemical resistance and ultrapurity. Applications include separation sciences, sterile
packaging and septa for vials and injection ports.
The patented design and product innovation of our food and beverage hose, tubing and
couplers provide industry-recognized solutions for sanitary applications on the
manufacturing end of dairy and liquid food processing. From hoses to couplings, flow
indicators to hose supports, our ReSeal® and Sanitary Coupler hoses and fittings handle
delivery from every vessel within the plant. These products are the preferred choice for
fluid transfer in applications such as dairy and dairy-related food, milk haulers, and
filling machine equipment manufacturers. |
Specialty Hose Systems
For more than three decades, Synflex® thermoplastic hose and
tubing has replaced rubber hose or metal tubing designs in countless applications. Synflex
hose and tubing offers customers a number of benefits, including increased flexibility,
durability, abrasion-resistance, lighter-weight construction, inertness to a broad base of
industrial chemicals, low friction, a variety of colors, high pressure capability, and
longer life due to decreased material fatigue factors. Synflex products are specified
in a wide range of applications, including truck air brake assemblies, hydraulic systems,
paint spray, carpet cleaning, fuel containment, packaging for fiber-optic bundles, and
control systems for offshore sub-sea oil drilling.
On the dispensing side of beer and beverage fluid delivery, our Synflex hose, tubing
and bundles transmit soft drinks and beer from tanks to the glass, protecting the purity
and taste of every product while preventing cross-contamination of flavors. TYGON®
beverage tubing, specially formulated for transferring a broad range of beverages
including fluid juices and flavored teas, will not affect the taste or odor of any product
carried through it. Python® insulated bundles are the perfect product when accurate,
controlled temperatures are required to dispense soft drinks or draft beer.
Our Macromeric® Materials business is a recognized leader in the design and
manufacture of specialty thermoplastic extrusion compounds. The roots of our thermoplastic
formulations and compounding processes are in flame-retardant extrusion compounds and
concentrates for wire and cable applications, meeting such industry standards as UL, IEEE,
CSA, MVSS, and ASTM. The technology of the flame-retardant thermoplastic product line
encompasses traditional halogen-containing systems, as well as environmentally friendly
halogen-free systems, and has been expanded to include additional applications such as
construction, consumer electronics, appliances, and transportation. Beyond the development
and production of flame-retardant thermoplastics, the business is also dedicated to
polymer modification, focusing on subjects including electrical conductivity and static
dissipation. An emerging area of product development and production is related to alloying
a variety of thermoplastic materials and functional additives. |
